Hi All. I had to go way for a bit, and I had left instructions to my SIL as far as caring for the incubator. She followed it to the letter and yet again I have not had any hatch. I am so bummed out. the kids are bummed too. I am about to give up...at what point would you throw in the towel? I followed all the direcions I found here at BYC. For the life of me I can't figure out what's going on.

I am so sorry

What kind of incubator are you using if I may ask? Have you sucessfully hatched anything else in it other than quails? (curious about some things)

Are you waiting at least 23 days before you're calling it quits? If you had fluctuations in humidity or a bit in temp. (WNR), it could delay the hatch.

herrmm well since you fixed up the LG it should work better but I'll tell you this. I fixed up my past lG too and I still came out of it very frusterated/sad and with less money. If at all possible someday, you may want to invest in a hovabator (i have no experience with these but if LGs arent working well Hovabators which arent much more in cost are pretty benifitial).

Not everyone can luck out and get a cabinet incubator, like I did but honestly if it was me, I'd put a wanted ad on craigslist for a cabinet incubator at a reasonable price. I did, and For $125 I am the proud owner of an incubator MUCH older than me (it's 70 years old i'm 25 here in june lol). ANYWHO... I am spoiled having this thing. I wish everyone could find something like this because your kids would be in heavenI know I am popping eggs into this thing. But if you can't find one from what i hear hovabators are perfecto

I think I will give up on incubating for now, wait for a Hova and maybe in the mean time keep looking for chicks.

I feel so stinkin bad for the kids. They put alot of work into each attempt...making charts, journalling etc. I put in an ad for someone local that has some for sale, failing that I may have to order, but I gotta find a place I can order maybe 50 at a time instead of 100. Know of anyplace?

Definately try a Hovabator 1588, WITH autoturner! Then use your LG as the hatcher.

My LG hatches were minimal, but once I started using the 1588, my hatch rates were much better.

Maybe try putting an ad here? Might find someone willing to ship.

I am willing to ship. I've never done it before but I looked not it and would rather my first time shipping be with someone I sorta know than someone i dont know (meaning i sorta know you) HAHA! Let me know.

edited to add I can't supply 50 right now, but could supply a bit less than that? They're hatching on this upcoming saturday. If you were interested I won't want to ship them out until they are older to be safe. The price would be a bit more, but there'd be more of an insurance that the chicks are more tough to make it.
