When breeding cochins, how old do they need to be when you make the decision of which ones to keep to improve the line?

Most will say 4+ months. But, depending on the variety, you may want to wait til first molt. I have columbians and they become a totally different bird after molting. Mottled are like that as well.

Normally, I would say 5 months. By then type is pretty much figured out and they are about as fluffed as their going to be ...Roo's may need another month.
