This is my first flock, so I am truly a novice. However, my easter egger hen has begun to crow in the morning (and no other time). It's not that nice of a crow either, more of a gargle. I've read where sometimes a hen will take the rooster rule in an all female flock (which is what I have).

So, do you think Lola is a hen (with a complex) or a rooster?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Why did you think he was a she? Those long, flowing tail feathers scream rooster to me. I'm a novice when it comes to boys, though. I only have ladies.

She/He is 14 weeks old.

I thought he was a she because I ordered only hens.

Since it's pretty much unanimous he's a he, the question changes to could/can I slaughter and eat him? Seems like a twisted question, but I don't know what to do with him.

If I want to replace him with a hen is it too late in the "season" to order a chick? Should I order 2, so I'm not introducing just one new bird to the flock?

Any suggestions?

Guess you'll have to change that to Larry huh?

I don't know, Lola seems pretty good to me!!!

"She walked up to me and she asked me to dance.
I asked her name and in a dark brown voice she said, "Lola"
L-O-L-A Lola, lo lo lo Lola
...
Girls will be boys, and boys will be girls.
It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world,
except for Lola. Lo lo lo Lola. Lo lo lo Lola.
...
Well I'm not the world's most masculine man,
but I know what I am and that I'm a man,
so is Lola.
Lo lo lo Lola. Lo lo lo Lola. "
