Another Egg Bound Hen.

Her vent are red now:

When you did the vent check and felt the egg were you able to get any lube into the vent? When I did mine I took a pipette of olive oil along to lube the finger of the glove and when I located the egg I get the the tip if the pipetted in and squeezed out olive oil until I saw it dripping out. I then tried to use my finger to spread it around the egg a little. My pipette was a very thin soft flimsy plastic one, so as not to cause her any damage. My girl's vent was never that red that I saw, I would be worried it is starting to prolapse. @KsKingBee has seen a prolapsed vent, so he maybe able to let you know if that is what is happening.

I tried to check her vent just now, but it seems it hurting her now, I don't have any pipetted, and i just gave her some olive oil orally someone suggested it could help, i'm thinking she might broke the egg.

And forgot to say her vent look worse now.

Are you seeing any sign of yolk or anything dripping out? If not it may still be whole. I am just worried it may be prolaping and blocking blood flow, does the vent appear swollen? I've seen people say they used preparation H the hemorrhoid cream to reduce the swelling. Also saw soaking her bottom end in a tub of warm water, probably to help increase blood flow. Has she passed any poop at all?

That is a prolapse from her trying get the egg out. If the egg is still in, you need to figure out a way to get it out. Might be best to bring her into a warm, dark bathroom filled with steam, tube fluids to her and get 400-500mg of calcium into her.

I saw tiny yellow drops dropped from her not sure if its a yolk or not? There are only a few blood there, tried to put her in tub with warm water, but she will just jump away.

I talked with someone earlier, he used to work in poultry company, he thinks its an Uterus coup, and he says its usually happened after the egg broke inside her. He also don't think she will made it, even so usually she will not be able produce eggs again as he said.

Now how should i protect my other hens? He said the problem could be in their feed, making their eggs bigger with less energy.

I have seen quite a few chickens and ducks like your hen, none have had a broken egg in them... Some ave already passed the egg, others still have the egg in them. Sometimes they will heal, other times they do not.

To get them to heal one needs to do the following:
1. Get the egg out.
2. Cut way back on food to cease the egg laying cycle
3. Place in dark room to cease the egg laying cycle
4. Provide supportive care if not drinking/eating
5. Treat the prolapse. Some use a prep-h, some use honey.

Of the many I have treated, I've only lost one of them, and all others are back to laying normally, but in several cases it meant that the birds required over two weeks of the care I listed above.

Can you fill you bathroom with steam and leave her in there?

I will put her in warm tub now, i will see if i could fill the bathroom with steam, not sure if could get much steam in the *farm* bathroom. Already gave her Tylan 200, and will go check her now again. She is not drinking or eating, i only gave her 50ml of fluid in the morning should i do it again?
