Another egg swap thread

But that means MilleBantam can't participate until the 24th. That's not quite fair. HE deserves to play.

Edited because I'm a dork.

That sounds good. I think a delivery confirmation number would be nice to add when shipping.

A there was something brought up about NPIP and/or certification that your flock is disease free, is there anything like that going to be here?

Why don't we do 30 or 60 days?

I do like the delivery comfirmation.

I like the sound of this very much. It would allow a lot more people to partipate.

I think some people in past swaps got caught up in swapping and didn't realize how much it would cost to ship everything. By limiting the number of swaps it should help keep this in check.

Well, I am just watching so far but I think if I had to choose between this one with the rules and the one without, I would join the one without. Just easier, I guess and even when it isn't moving much, they are still having a good time.

Well, the beauty of this is, you dont have to make that choice. You can join both, join one, or join neither.

Some people are NPIP certified, that is fine. Some people arent, I think that is fine too.

Delivery confirmation is always a good idea. I would highly recommend everyone use it.

I would still like to keep the 90 day BYC member requirement. I think that just adds to the benefit of becoming a member.

I am adding periodically to the first thread, so please re-read it occasionally to make sure you still agree with it; if not please let me know.

I think the reason this was brought up is because another member had sick chickens, then posted about wanting to learn how to ship eggs. It caused concern because most people will not want eggs from a flock that has been sick in the past or currently sick.

My question is this, since people are wanting to swap high quaility eggs, like the black coppers, is this a potential show quaility egg swap only? I have some BLRW that I am quite proud of, but they are hatchery stock. Are people in this swap going to want breeds from specific lines only? Or are my beautiful BLRW hatchery stock chickens acceptable?

I have their pictures posted in that thread.

Not just showies, all purebreds. Your birds are just fine for this swap

By all means, join in the fun!

It will be up to each individual as to whether they only want eggs from NPIP certified flocks. This thread is not about show quality, its about pure breeds. This is why I would highly recommend posting pictures of your flock. I personally couldnt give 2 hoots about show quality, but I do care about chickens that conform to the Standard of Perfection. I think show quality is purely subjective anyway. I know people who have taken chicks they bought from hatcheries go to shows and win their divisions.
