Please don't look if you're squeamish! I don't know if it's just cause she's my dog, but it hurts just looking at this! her eye itself is fine, untouched (at least from the outside) but she's very swollen and the cuts are close to her eye. He had her face in his mouth over her muzzle. What does the 48hr suspension mean? That after 48 hrs it's no good anymore? Should I give it to them for just a week, and are u sure of the dose of 1ml/10lbs? I'm sorry I'm probably being repetitive..........

Those don't look very deep to me. I think with your treatment, she'll be fine.

They are not really bad at all. You are mama and therefore see it worse than it is...that is okay too.

Clean the wounds and wrap clean bandages where you can and let them drain. If they are going outside, put some corona salve or ointment on it so nothing gets into the wound. When they come back in, wipe it away and wrap it so it drains...as the skin starts to seal, unwrap it and let the air get to them.

Get some antibiotics and you should be fine.

You may face needing no get rid of one of the dogs. They are pits and they do not change their attitude towards another dog that easily. I had a male and female years ago and the same thing happened. I gave the female away eventually to stop it.

I'm so relieved you think that! I can't help thinking the worst, I know Tuna's leg will probably be okay (not the puncture, the part that's missing skin that's bandaged, no pics of that cause of the gauze) but the deeper and worse looking ones are the ones I'm worried about.

Is that combi pen-48 broad spectrum enough to prevent infection in this type of injury? THANK YOU ALL SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!! I don't know what the heck I would do without this forum!!!! Especially based on how spastic I can be about my animals!

i also was told to grab the hind legs...and to pick the legs up slowly..(if its possiable!!..lol)...and while you are picking up the hind legs...start to turn them around a bit..or kinda "wheel-barrow" walk them..so they have to stop..to try to gain their balance.....or if you are alone...grab the one's hind legs or even tail..to drag them(if you are indoors)..drag them in between a door frame...and then..shut the door on their heads..

... till they split apart..than shut the door quickly in between them..

...lol...a dog trainer lady told me to do this....i guess its better than the wounds..i'd try it if i had to...best of luck...Wendy

We just changed the bandage on Tuna's leg, so I was able to take some pics. Once again, don't look if you're squeamish. He's acting really funny, he won't walk, and the leg in the pics is the one he's favoring really bad. Also, when he walked when the hubby carried him outside to potty the deeper pucture started bleeding and oozing. I hope that's a sign it'll stay open and drain all by itself. Anyways, here's the pics.

As for the puncture wounds draining, I would encourage that--you WANT those suckers to drain. I'm not sure I'd even escalate to a systemic antibiotic at this point, but you've seen the wounds in person and I haven't. That leg wound is the one that would worry me. I would definitely keep it packed with at least something like Furacin or tri-biotic ointment and well-covered.

I'm of two minds about painkillers in these situations. I'd want to give a little aspirin, yes, but sometimes I feel like when we go overboard on painkillers (like we would with ourselves), an animal can actually injure itself further because it doesn't realize how hurt it is.

I hope Tuna's leg feels a lot better in the morning. Poor baby. It looks like Sasha got lucky and narrowly avoided some serious eye injuries!

I told hubby about the injectible stuff, and he says that's a good idea. All the vets I've called won't do anything without seeing them, and even at the low cost place it's a $50 min per dog. I know I have to get them started on something quick, cause infection is the main concern.

I re-read all the posts to make sure I didn't miss it (maybe I did, u never know) but how long should I give the penicillin for? A few days? A week? Until they start healing up? I don't want to over or under do it. I'm gonna be getting that stuff tomorrow for them.

I gotta say again, thank you all so much for the help! I've never been more freaked out in my life over my animals, and all I could think of was the fact that I can't bear the thought of either one of them dying. The only way I could ever imagine giving them up is if a human's safety was an issue or if my kid was starving and we couldn't afford to feed the dogs. The things we do, I'm telling ya! This wouldn't be such an issue if I hadn't spent all the money already (bills, 4 b-days in the next 2 weeks, and 2 weddings three days after the b-days) I just didn't foresee anything like this. I got all the shopping done for that just a few days ago, and now this.....One thing right after another.

OMG!!..is that his bone??...or a tendon?....that wound is the one i'd worry about...there dosent seem to be enough skin to cover the wound back up so it can start to heal...i dont know??...i wish you had a vet around that would work with you..some are stinkers!!....i understand what you are going through!..and i really feel bad for you...i'm there right now!!.. i just had to post date a check today at my vets!...i had 4 cats there today..2 being fixed...one with stiches in his eye lid(he got scratched by another one)...and my female that i suspected was pregnant..i brought her in for an exam they had to do an x-ray..and yup..shes prego..2-4 weeks and i'll have kittens..

...

..i wanna die!..i cant afford the biils either..

...but she let me post date a check for the prego and emergency eye ones...plus i had my goat fixed yesterday..and piglet next week....lol..so..i'm flat broke...but for you..i'm just worried about that leg...i'm not sure how that will heal>>>i hope some one who has experience can chime in and give their advice on that.......honestly!!..best wishes to you and the pups!...wish i could help you more.....Wendy
