Wow I don't know why I stopped getting notifications about this thread! Fingers crossed the babies make it. Especially poor little malpositioned JO! If there's a pip and she's putting her beak through it, that's a good sign. At least she can breathe. I had to do 3 assists this year, all were at the zipping stage (pipped but couldn't zip properly) and all made it out alive, but wouldn't have if I hadn't assisted. They'd spent too long trying, and started drying out in the meantime, and as they dried they got stuck in the dry membranes (even though my humidity was 80+ percent from all the other chicks hatching). So letting a lot of time pass with the shell open has its risks.
JO5 (the malpositioned) pipped on the night of 6-15-21 hatched around 2:00 pm on 6-16-21
JO7 (Perfect pip) hatched around 3:30 pm on 6-16-21
JO2 (perfect pip) hatched 6:30 pm, on 6-16-21
Later (about 1 hr ago) I checked the incubator again, and to my surprise, there were two more JO zipping! The race was on! One looked malpositioned (something MUST be wrong with my turner in the incubator) but hatched first! Cant remember the number.
So… JOMalpos (malpositioned) hatched around 9:30 pm on 6-16-21
JOyay (perfect pip) hatched around 10:00 pm on 6-16-21]
Problem. They all look like BLUE LACED RED WYANDOTTES. I think the breeder guy gave me the wrong eggs. @K0k0shka, I think Im destined to not have jubilee. I WILL NOT GIVE UP!
We have 3 more that I can see that are definitely pipped.
1 JO
1 CM
1 DB
I put 3 more on lockdown tonight.
1 LO ( was wiggling in my hand)
1 RB (questionable)
1 DB (questioning if its questionable.)
2 more AK’s died. Down to one. Doesn’t look promising. I think it was because of how hard they were handled on the way to my house (story for another time, who wants to hear it?) Because it’s JUST the AK that all of them are dying.
7 ”Jubilees” probably BLRW. EVERY SINGLE ONE HATCHED.
1 Copper Maran
3 Lavender Orpington
1 Dark Brahma. (Not looking great, has wry neck and unabsorbed yolk sac… she is so pretty. I how; so ]e makes it overnight.)
1 Random Breed
This is what’s in the Hatcher right now-
1 Lavender Ameraucana Egg (Heard her peeping earlier, no pip)
1 Random Breed Egg (heard him peeping earlier, no pip)
1 Dark Brahma chick, unabsorbed yolk, wry neck
1 Lavender Orp chick, JUST hatched.
Pips of everyone fluffy in the morning.
Im praying for two more pips overnight, and two babies still alive in the morning.
