In the Brooder

Night two since the hens and roo have arrived. They are a little over five weeks old. I noticed as I shut their run door last night that they were all huddled up by the coop door...snuggled in. No roost. Tonight they’ve done the same thing. No roost. I wondered if it’s because they were in a new coop (they had no roosts at the breeder we got them from) and weren’t use to the coop. However...they’ve all been on the roost earlier today! Or is it because the temps did drop down into the low 40s last night and are expected to be around 50 tonight that maybe they wanted to cuddle for warmth? Should I be doing something to assist? I know roosting is important to them. Is it something that will eventually come natural to them? Any advice would be helpful! Thank y’all!

I've had chicks huddle until they were 4 months old..other's that want to roost by 4 weeks. When they are ready...they will naturally begin to roost
