Sorry to basically stay on here with constant problems but I now have another hen acting the same as the one I came here to ask about yesterday.
Hen 1 (black copper maran) is in the tractor isolated. And I just put hen 2 (Easter egger) in there since they’re behaving the same. These girls came from the same place to my house about 4 weeks ago and are approx 18 weeks old. An older hen was sick last week and ended up producing round worms after valbazen and has since recovered.
I’ve placed electrolyte water and molasses water into the tractor but don’t think any has been consumed.
Primary symptom is standing still, head “shrunk” down into body, intermittently closing eyes.
No evidence of lice/mites/wounds
Not laying yet but feel nothing that could be an egg
Don’t feel anything suspicious with the crop.
Given dose 1 of valbazen last Thursday
Yesterday was fifth day of Corid in drinking water.
This mornings poops all looked good however I just inspected the run and have found poop with red stuff in it. No idea who in the flock of 8 pooped this. But it was after removing hen 1 so I know it’s not her.
I am at a total loss right now and desperate to figure out what the heck is happening.

Adding a few things:
1. I’m noticing the other birds seem to be grooming themselves a lot???? I see a lot of feathers in the yard and coop recently. A few minutes ago I saw a “healthy” hen shake and a feather fell out. These hens are all new to me-a batch of around 2 year olds and a second batch of around 17 or 18 week olds. Both from other separate homes. I DID quarantine the new from the old when they arrived.
2. They are all getting layer feed-are the youngest who aren’t yet laying too young for that?
3. We’ve had alot of stress: move here by 2 separate flocks, a predator killed my original elderly RIR, they went from free—ranging to a yard enclosed with electric poultry netting, very hot stretch of weather (now over), worms/deworming, Corid in water because I was afraid I was missing some thing
4. Of the older girls, one of them died suddenly one morning (she’d been “slow”since arrival but I thought it was just her temperament -now I’m wondering if it was worms or whatever the heck else is going on.

If you’ve read this book, thank you. I’ll take any advice I can get because I’m about to lose my mind. Almost 14 years of chickens and hardly a problem until now.

Your younger birds probably need to have all flock or chick feed for a few more weeks until they are laying. Layer has 4 times the calcium that chick feed has, and it can damage kidneys in birds not laying.

The orange is intestinal lining. It cannbe normal occasionally, but if see often, along with those droppings, it may be from possible coccidiosis or worms. What dosage of Corid did you give the chickens? Valbazen dosage is 1/2 ml for a 4-6 pound hen, and the dose should be repeated once after 10 days.

I wormed everyone with 1/2 ml valbazen. They get retreated this coming weekend.
Everyone got Corid of 9ml liquid per gallon of drinking water. Only water available to them.
When I wormed I saw roundworms in my sick hen in isolation . I never saw worms in any poop from any other hen.

The others may have had worms, but they can be reabsorbed back into the body, disappearing. Valbazen is a safe effective wormer. Now that Corid is finished, they might benefit from some poultry vitamins and probiotics. If any still seem sick, you can continue Corid at 1/3 the dose for another 5 days, but do not use b vitamins while on Corid.

I do have the two that ARE sick and I can’t figure out why. @azygous recommended molasses water and sugar/salt/baking soda water for the sickies today but I haven’t seen them drink it. They drank plain water this morning before I switched it out and I k ow they’ve eaten pellets today. Mostly they sit, head pulled in to body, eyes closed.
And now I’m paranoid obsessive out there watching the others peck themselves and lose feathers and wondering if there are bugs on them I’m not seeing or if they are acting naturally and I’m just freaking out.

I thought about that.
I guess I also wonder how much grooming and pecking at oneself is normal?

I swear these are the most difficult chickens I’ve ever had 😭
When my ladies molt they do A LOT of dust bathing and grooming, have you checked them really good around their vents and under their wings for mites?
