Another puppy question.. *short video clips on page 2* Advice?

imo if your monitoring everything, everything will be just fine. i have a 13 year old dog and introduced that dog to a puppy of 8 weeks old. they are fine now. never do they eat at the same time, but they share the food dish. good luck to you.

I have had probably 50 dogs over the years, I worked at the local humane society for 3 1/2 years, & I know dogs VERY WELL. In the video, that was simply a "don't bother me warning. Maybe you know Rotties, but I know alot about alot of breeds. I can read a dogs body language pretty well, thank you.

I also have quite a bit of experience with various breeds, and several hundred more than 50 dogs, since I have done training in my area for a number of years.

Nice to know that you have such a confidence level. I learned enough after MY first 50 dogs to know that nothing is absolutely, accidents happen, and prevention is the best policy.

Ya think? I know what wolves are and what they are capable of, more than most people that think 'my dog is a WOLF' dingbats. But in general, and for the most part, they DO NOT eat the pups.

I would suggest red to give the puppy a treat too in you lap or with you sitting on the couch and when puppy is on the ground loose again take all the dogs treats away....if you can't watch the pup with their treat then put the puppy in the crate with their treat while your busy and while the other two dogs are loose eating there treat.

It would be best to not let the puppy run loose and pounce at the older dogs while eating.

The puppy just wants to play and the older dogs are protecting their food and don't see it that way. So puppy can play when they are done eating.

If you don't want puppy to have a bone you can hold him or put him in the crate for a half hour while the older dogs get to chew there bone. You could put the pup in the kitchen behind the gate and the older dogs loose while they eat or the other way too.

Good luck!

But i do want them to get used to eating together..like my other 2 dogs do.
So..i'll start that by givng small treats to each of them by hand while they are all out together. So they can get used to eating with the puppy around...??

I NEVER feed dogs together. Ever. I think each dog is entitled to a short period of peace to eat their meal undisturbed. I have a variety of ways that I keep dogs apart while they eat. After about 9-10 weeks my dogs always eat where they will not be disturbed.

ok now here this. i ran a dog rescue for 5 yrs until i had to move in with my elder mother. then we just bought a home and it looks like i am get into rescue plus take care of my alz mom.
i personal have
keehound dog when he was a baby [6m]that was about 15 yrs ago
Chihuahua dog purebreed was adopt he was about 1 yr that was 14 yrs ago
Australia shepherd then an that was very aggressive he was about 1 1/2 yr old about 11 yrs ago when i got him from the human. society he had only hours to live. i was volunteer with my daughter. we lost alot of boots due to him biting at our ankles. he steal food and treat from my other dogs for about a month. we feed the dog in the same room but not near each other. when i gave them meat bones . i put the chi bone in his house with the door open because it was smaller.
when i had my dog rescue before i have very aggressive 20 dogs that came into my home that u could not put your hand near there food dish but we broken all and with their treat too and there bones they where all in the same room. when it was time to eat or have treats they went into their seperate area to eat. at one time we had 7 dogs. 4 dogs was up for adopt out then i get one dog adopt out another one in. i get pit bull to labs now to small dogs Chihuahua,, pekes.
i never have to pull a big dog off and other dogs and had no blood flying no broken skin.

now to the present still have my 3 personal dogs , sydney Australia shepherd bear the keehound, godzilla, purebred chi and i got a puppy [frost]about 4 month to 8month [chi mix ]that was left out in the cold. they said it was 8 month old but i doubt about that age due to his teething chewing things up. we got him on the 23 november. he met each dog seperate
at first . he turn over and the dogs accept him until food time . he run over to each dish and that dog gave him a warning to get away. when the treat time come he try to steal the treat from my hands while try to give the treat to my older dogs sydney, bear gowrls at him he is learning the rope. when the meat bones came out. sydney tried to steal frost bone. and now frost walk away until i tell frost to go get his bone.
godizilla n frost play together very nicely. sydney tried to tell them not to play lol.
if there is not blood flying then dont worry about them. they will work them out.

I always have. I have 5 dogs in one pen, they each have their own dish, they each get their dish with food one at a time, never does another go after a different food dish. They all eat together, peacefully.

I know lots of people dont feed together. But honestly.. my 2 adults WONT eat alone..they STRESS if i seperate them. Like today hubby brought Daisy to the park..and Duke would NOT eat his dinner.. he just kept going to the door looking for her....pathetic.. (i dread when one passes..the other will be lost)
They have no food agression issues.. they switch bowls during eating like nothing... they swap bones and toys and beds.... if daisy doesnt finish her food..duke will finish it... and visa versa...
They wont eat unless they see the other one eating.(or at least a bowl of food put down for them too..).. weird..but thats how they are.
They honestly live together VERY peacefully.
I'm lucky.. or something..

I hope it stays that way with a 3rd dog.... but they say a 3rd dog can mess up your "pack" structure...?
