Welcome. A lot has changed in back yard chicken keeping since when I started as a kid, and later flocks I had in the mid 70's/early 80's! topics you might want to do some thread searches on: Deep litter management in coop and run, fermented feed, and Mama heating pad cave brooding.

Welcome to BYC! My kids and grandkids live in Portland area and we hope to move there, or within driving distance. I thought PDX only allows 3 chickens.....which is why my daughter only has 3. Is there a way to have more?
