another use for laying mash

I tried it a couple years ago. Had 4 mostly indoor cats then. It did work fairly well as a litter, but a couple of my cats decided that they wouldn't use it. So it only lasted a few months.
Then someone posted about using Stall Dry as cat litter. I tried that and it also works pretty good. Been on Stall Dry for about a year and a half.

This has actually been around for awhile and my sister and I have been using it as cat litter for years. Even before I got chickens. It doesn't clump quite as well as the more expensive corn based litters like World's Best and might give an automatic cleaner a problem but it clumps more than well enough for scooping by hand. You just end up wasting a little more but the cost difference is still huge. It also has a lot less potential health issues from it than many cat litters especially any in the same price range.

Ok, I filled one litter box w the crumbled so we will see how it goes.I did notice there was a lot less dust.

I checked this morning and the cats had used the litter. It tracks a few pcs out on their feet but so does the other litter.I will check this afternoon and see how it clumps.

Well I am impressed so far. No bad smell so far and clumps better than I thought it would.I used the layena brand and it had very little dust.
