Another USPS rant!

what i really hate is UPS rural service, where they give it to the USPS to deliver. I live in FT RIley, at times right behind the post office. I had to wait a extra day on my stuff sitting maybe 100ft from me.

My USPS lady gets offended any time she has to deliver a package that won't fit in the mail box. Usually she just puts a note in the box, honks as she drives away, and I have to drive 30 minutes to the Post Office the next morning. When I'm expecting eggs I have to spend the morning out in the yard or watching out the window so she will stop. Usually she acts irritated by this. Occasionally someone else does her round and he always thoughtfully leaves any packages on my planting table. If possible, I have things shipped UPS or FedEx. Both of their delivery guys are always friendly...even my dog likes them!

It's been rumored that although the USPS only is allowed to ship eggs, many have used UPS or Fedex, just not putting on the outside of the box "hatching eggs". Put something like fragile, glass bottles, syrup, on the box. I will try this after my last egg fiasco.
3 shipments, 27 eggs later, 200 miles. 9 days??? That is just crap.

At this point, it sounds like it would be worth a try. It would be nice to hear from anyone who has gone the UPS route and what the results were.

Ironically.... I was expecting eggs yesterday also. Did not show up yesterday or today. My poster master check the DC# for me and has no info except the acceptance.

Looks like from your picture that the USPS was using FedEX to ship your eggs. I didn't realize they did that. And why did they only refuse one box? Crazy...

I don't understand why people rant about the USPS. They deliver millions, billions, trillions of pieces of mail and packages. It should be expected that there will be problems on occasion. I happen to be one that appreciates their service. More often than not they do an incredible job.

my local delivery driver managed to shove a shoe box into my mail box. took 3 of us to get it out! The PostMaster told me that the guy was new and probably didn't know that it would be a problem. You would think that having to spend ?? minutes jamming it in there would have been a clue!

ETA: that's why we have a PO box now. My neighbors were getting more of my mail than I was. I clean out the curbside box at least once a week. It's always full of mail that isn't ours.

Well, I agree with you that we should not be surprised when mail gets delayed occasionally. But I've got a box of eggs somewhere between Atlanta and Lindale, TX which should have been delivered yesterday, and another somewhere between Birmingham and here that should have been here today. If I don't receive them tomorrow, then it will be Monday (hopefully) and the chances of having a successful hatch (of my first shipped eggs, mind you) are getting slimmer.
I'm sure you can appreciate my frustration.
