(another) ventilation question

While those look nice they really aren't more or even as secure as hardware cloth would be. They have only 2 screws holding them if installed as designed.

I put my hardware cloth on the inside.....This allowed me to keep the board on the front.

even if i didn’t add a couple of screws, surely two 3” long wood screws are gonna keep out anything small enough to squeeze through my 4” opening, no?

The thing is that raccoons can pry those off literally forcing the screws to rip through the thin metal.

It would be a tight squeeze at 4" but a determined predator would definitely attempt it.

Are you attaching to the ends of the rafter tails or to the underside of the rafter tails?
