Answer to the Delaware Dilemma

I put my BR boy in with 2 NH girls and 2 BR girls (so he would have more than just 2). It is not going well. The BRs do NOT like the NHs at all.

That is EXACTLY the ratio I had and it didn't go well at all either. I pulled the NHs out before they got totally abused and am going to try again. The roo didn't care much at all.. he likes girls period. lol. The BR girls didn't want to share. It was like jealous girls fighting over the same player of a boy. lol. At least, that is the way I invision it if they were human. I also have to admit that I do not care for birds fighting at all. My blood pressure goes way up. So they might have just pecked their way through it and got it out of their system, but those NH girls are so sweet I couldn't bear it.

I might just build them a tractor tomarrow and put the BR boy with all 4 NH hens. Give the BR girls to the lone SLW roo (which is for sale to a good breeding home - he is blue ribbon worthy).

I got so many things going on here, breed wise. Someone could make out like a fat rat if they wanted to start breeding... I'm selling alot so I can re-focus. I got carried away. I must remember that I can't breed them all!!!!

Oh, I dooooooo understand what you are saying!

Too many projects = dilemma

However, this one I have as a priority. Yes, these NH girls are also very sweet. The BR girls are just not used to being with anyone else. I put them all in a fresh new pen, hoping it would go well since it was "new," to ALL of them. No such luck. Today the NH girls are staying inside and the BRs are outside. I finally went ahead and put food and water inside, as well as the usual outside area. I think this may take awhile. I might pull the BR girls out, and add 2 more NH girls instead. I will wait one more day and see.

Im still in shock over the pictures of those hens...who owns them? They did a heckof a job..they had to have added something like show NH to get that..the first hen was a little picture of perfection wasnt she? Im thinking by looking at the one hen in the background thats what they did..she has a pretty nice tail but is NH.
