Well I went and looked at the trio that came out of 6 chicks I sold and the pullets have been laying for a month now. I will post pics as soon as I can get them edited for size *thats all I know how to do* and see how they all look. I see a little more color in them than in their mother so that makes me feel better. The trio is the only birds on the place and its in the middle of a horse ranch so I am going to get eggs starting in february and swap him more some more dellie chicks from for his eggs as he loves the temperment of them. Also I went to see some Midget whites I am supposed to get eggs from and wound up purchasing some really nice RIR tweens about 13 wks old. I guess I will have to have some layers to sell eggs to supply all my feed for the breeders and themselves

I just hope they dont turn out to be trash. The parents looked nice so I hope I did a decent job picking out my quintuplets * 1 roo 5 pullets*

So, at 9 weeks old I am not sure if you can provide too much constructive feedback - - - but what ever you notice - --
Go ahead it throw it out there

2nd delaware - - - a little pullet with light markings on her back

IMG_1325.jpg

3rd delaware - - - a little pullet that just seems all pinched tight / very narrow and very very little markings on back

IMG_1333.jpg

4th delaware - - - my only roo as he does aerobics

AND he is the only one out of the batch to have yellow / yellow legs

I have a TOTAL of 4 pullets and 1 roo. I don't know which pullet got left out of the first set of pics . . .
This is either a close up of pullet #2 or the missing pullet. . . .

yeah that and you ought to see these ol' two fingers a getting it and I prolly use the backspace button more than any other on the whole darn keyboard. It reminds me of a drunk pss ant one step forward and two steps back that makes it kind hard to get from here to there.

Math Ace- sorry it took so long here, I have had major computer problems over that last week or so

It is really hard to tell anything on your birds except the coloring and tails on the pullets- if you can take some time - and they are so active, it will take time, see if you can get a profile shot, a straight on front shot, and then a rear end shot and a shot from straight down of each bird, it will be easier to tell what you have. At this point, all I can say is that the first two pullets are way too light- you would need a very dark roo to offset that, from what I have come to understand from old breeders. Also, the tails look pinched- when you look at them from the back, they should look like a very open triangle. The picture of the last pullet looks like she has some color- the roo is very hard to tell anything on in that picture- his tail does not seem to be there yet, , but watch for it to be barred black and white. If he has yellow legs, that is great! Again, better pictures will help us all to help you more with this.

And I love that last pullet- she has a pretty, pretty face and looks like she is plump. You may be able to work with them, depending on how the roo really looks. I am a believer in "Start where you are with what you have" if you can, and in another month or so, you will be able to tell more on the roo especially.

Thanks Joletabey. I will wait a month or so and try to take the pictures as you requested. I am totally new to the breed, so I am looking to learn how to "LOOK" at the birds.
