Ant bites on a baby! HELP!

Yesterday was a great day so we let the kids out to play. Well, DD2 stepped into an ant hill and got bites all over her. We washed her down and everything immediately. Today, all the bites are puffed up and "pimple-like"
What should we do about them? They are makign her miserable. She itches and scratches, we try to keep her from doing that. FIL said to pop the bites to get the "POISON" out of it but Im not sure of it. Should we do that?

make a paste of baking soda. That should help a lot.

IM out of baking soda. I did get her to mellow down now. I gave her a bath. I put oatmeal in an old sock, something DS's pedi has taught me when he was first born saying it's better then baby soap and my midwife told me to do the same thing when I had a really bad rash. I bathed her with the oatmeal and after a while, I got her to laugh again and she was playing. Seems like the oatmeal has done some work to the bites. I let her play with the oatmeal for a while, it's HARMLESS no chemicals or anything! She threw it here and there into the water and laughed when the water spashed all over the place, she was having the time of her life!
Now she is out and I have put some ointment on the bites and laid her down on the couch next to me. She has fell asleep now. Hopefully this works out best for her. She was just miserable. Cried and cried all day long, was a relief to see her laugh for a lil while. She wanted nothing but to be held as long as no one was touching her legs or arms (where most of the bites are located). I have a few bites on my hands as well from brushing them off her yesterday and setting them in the oatmeal filled water helped to relieve the itching for me also.

benadryl, pop tops to relieve pressure and then anti biotic ointment. seemed to help our grandaughter.

Whenever we get stung/bite we put mentholated chest rub on it. Pain relief is immediate and it doesn't develop the blister.

When we lived in Miami there are a lot of cuban, haitian, bahamian and other island cultures. This was passed to us from an older haitian woman and we have sworn by it ever since. Works like a charm
