Anti Barking Devices For Rooster Crowing

Don't you just love the Polish roos! We are raising 8 baby Polish chicks right now and have a 7-month-old, black and white crested Polish roo that keeps the peace in the henhouse! Everyone in the family just loves him because of his laid-back demeanor with us and his loyalty in caring for the hens. I hope you get this problem solved so that you can keep your roos! :fl

Ya I know Im going to get mix reviews. I tried the no crow collar and that was a joke, but will try another brand. Tried the lights off for a while, they still crowed, tried a night light, and they still crowed. We do not mind it but our town does (noise ordinance even though a dogs bark is about the same as a rooster crow). We will be moving soon to a big piece of property where their crowing will not be an issue. So we are just need a temporary solution till that happens. We thought we where getting all girls but most turned out to be roosters. We re-homered four but still have two polishes that are wonderful and would love to take to our new property.

So I would need to find something that gives off 125 htz anytime the rooster would crow. Anything lower then that the roosters would not be able to hear.

I have youtube set up the remote control and the roosters in house (in a cage with food and water). Time to test, just got to wait for the next crows. It may be my luck they are done for the day :)

Yes we can hear this.

Do bear in mind, that it will also be heard by the hens, who knows if it will bother them or not?

Our roosters are kept are in another coop away from the ladies at the other end of yard. But they do free range together. We do this because our boys are trying to mount and the girls want nothing to do with them. When outside during the DAY the girls can get away from the boys and the roosters do not crow.

Just dawned on me if chickens had a wider hearing range they may crow more then they do.

I hope you get this thing and see if it works, it's a fascinating concept.
Not sure the noise would distract them enough to making them stop vocalizing(like it does with dogs)....or make them crow more.

My pup sure took notice when I played this and she barks at everything.... but she did not bark! She just looked curiously at me and went to her bed and laid down...
Hmmmm! I may try this later when she barks at the mail lady! :)

I had one and used it on my dog and it made her bark more. But my dog is very well Ummm.... well.... special I guess you could say. For a temporary solution you could try that sound barrier foam. I cannot recall the name of it specifically but it’s made for people who for instants play the drums and need to soundproof their room. I know it works pretty well when my neighbor realized I could hear her son practicing drums when I lived in my townhouse years ago. The drums didn’t bother me but she was trying to be considerate and after she put it up I couldn’t hear a thing. But if your coop is already warm I would be afraid it might heated up a little more

I want to get one of those for my dog, I am well aware that it will also bother my cats, but, my thought is that if the cats figure out that the dog barks, then the irritating noise starts, that they may actually start policing the dog and THEY will start punishing him for barking as if he does something "wrong" they all get punished for it. They have done things with monkeys where they punished the entire group for the wrongs of any one member and it actually worked that way, all of the monkeys learned that when one climbed the ladder that they all got sprayed with cold water, so they started beating up monkeys that touched the ladder, it was so effective that they started replacing monkeys one at a time until all of the original monkeys were gone and none of the new ones had ever been sprayed but they were still beating up on monkeys that touched the ladder even though they had no idea WHY they were doing it.

I would assume a flock of annoyed hens would be a pretty good crow deterrent.
