know what you mean. I went with field fence with T posts and then ran 2 foot chicken wire along the bottom on 2 sides, will do the rest if needed.

I dont care what anybody has in their yard, even if its an elephant, but keep it in your own yard! Even tho I have chickens, I wouldnt want my neighbors chickens in MY yard. I have dogs, my neighbors dog gets in my yard sometimes and I dont like it. Her dogs are covered in fleas and mine are NOT. same difference only chickens.

What about the electro-net fencing? Its cheap, you can get it in various heights and from what I understand, its not that hard to set up. You can set it up and put them in it for the day and then move it to a new location every few days so they don't graze the area down to nothing.

I think you should do this...
take some eggs over to her, apologize that your birds got on her property and explain you are working on getting a fence up to keep them over in your property.
There is a difference between moving to the country and complaining of roosters crowing or the smell of cow manure, but it is a different thing when animals cross property lines. It is your responsibility to keep your animals where they belong.
Good luck.

yep, thats what we're doing, inside the forest along the property line so the thick foliage will be a deterent from flying over it.

We've never had an issue with her and we get along well. Like I said, was just frustrated. Thanks for all the advice

I know its our responsibility to keep our animals on our property. Thats why my DH apologized.

Well, we'll just take her some eggs one day to help patch this all up.

This is an easy one.

Keep your birds on your property with an appropriate fence then you won't have to worry about her being mad about the chickens eating her plants. After all, they are YOUR birds so the should stay on YOUR property.

Pretty simple, really.

I agree. My neighbors dogs have not stepped foot onto our property until the chickens were moved outside to the coop and run. Now they are in the yard a few times a week. But they only let the dogs out supervised, so they get them back in their yard quickly. I am keeping my eye out though, one of their dogs is mean and bit my husband when he tried to be friendly with him. The other two seem nice, but that doesn't mean they don't look at my chickens and say,"yum....dinner."

I also have several neighbors who free-range and their chickens end up all over the neighborhood. I am not too crazy about that. For one, they are eating in peoples gardens, and they are crossing the road all the time (no pun intended) and could get hit by a car. I think however you keep your chickens (free range or in a run) it is your responsibility to keep them off of other people's properties!
