Hi ,my chooks possibly have signs of CRD either that or gape worm maybe, sneezing, coughing, one is rattly in the chest (wheezy kind of) so lv disinfected everything and cleaned out all the bedding etc and put them on a bird antibiotic, (avicycline c) question is, is it okay for chicks to have?? One of the hens have chicks around 1 week old and l also have 2 Mth olds. I read that CRD etc can be passed from mother to the eggs even

Avicycline appears to be chlortetracycline which van be used to treat mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG,) one of the chronic respiratory diseases. Are hou following dosage on the label? It doesn’t cure the disease, since it may occur again, but it may treat symptoms. Other respiratory diseases can be caused by viruses, and those can look similar. Antibiotics do not treat viral diseases, and they will run their course over a month or more. Sick birds may require extra heat to keep them warm, and need to drink plenty of the medicated water to benefit. All birds in the flock may be carriers in the future, and yes, it can be passed on in some hatching eggs. Here is some reading about MG:
