This will be hard, TSC is already far enough and the money situation isn't the easiest either.

I hear you on that! I luckily haven't had to use antibiotics on my flockThis will be hard, TSC is already far enough and the money situation isn't the easiest either.![]()
We have 2 vets 15-20 minutes near us but they're pretty expensive. A checkup on one duck is 65 dollars, not counting cost of antibiotics, X-ray (for legs, broken bones, etc) and then the gas costI hear you on that! I luckily haven't had to use antibiotics on my flockknock on wood... Only thing I've had to do was bring my Cochin in when she fought a hawk and repair her torn skin.
The part that sucks for us is that we have no vet that will treat our chickens or ducks. They only treat bigger livestock. So there's no way we could get a prescription![]()
I'm curious too..what disease and what AB.I’m seriously asking what people have treated for just like I’ve already said what I’ve treated for. I’m genuinely curious since the thread is concerned with the availability of antibiotics.
Then they get immune or allergic to antibiotics and they're screwed
I'm allergic to most antibiotics because when I was a kid I always had strep throat until they removed my tonsils. They gave me so many antibiotics that I started becoming allergic to every single one. I think the only antibiotic I can take is Z-Pac (spelling?).
I had to give our dog a sulfa based antibiotic for an infection she had... She bit the pill and got the powder all over my hand and I went into anaphylactic shock. I rarely mess with antibiotics now. My vet recommends other things due to this. The ambulance couldn't give me an EpiPen because my heart rate was 190 , so they had to use an 18 gauge needle and slam it into my muscle, I still have scars from it. I scared myself, my family, and the vet when this happened. I have epi pens now.
Antibiotics are a curse for me...
I'm allergic to anything ending in cline too like doxycycline. I have a huge list of stuff I'm allergic too. They used to give me penicillin shots and then one day they gave me it and I went into anaphylactic shock. The Z-Pak is Azithromycin. It's prescribed for bacterial pneumonia and respiratory infections. It's not a very good broad spectrum antibiotic. It you get a systemic infection your MD's are going to have a hard time treating you. Sounds like you're allergic to Sulfa and PCN (penicillin) classes of antibiotics. There are a few different classes like cephalosporins for example, but the doctors are going to have to be very careful with you. Wishing you health!!
The only antibiotic I have used on my flock is Metronidazole. That was to treat Blackhead in Turkeys. What does everyone use antibiotics for in their flocks? Specific ailments and diseases?
Same here. The part that sucks for us is that we have no vet that will treat our chickens or ducks. They only treat bigger livestock. So there's no way we could get a prescription![]()
Guess I'll stock up these next few weeks.Same here.
