Antics of a Not So Intelligent Chicken

Poor Gwen and Penny. I loved their stories so much that I had to share our experience with Karen. We learned about her 'problem' about a week after we combined our nine little girls with our two big girls. Apparently Karen was the only one who didn't understand to run away from the big girls when they began to pick on her. She ended up with a pretty bad pecked spot on the back of her head, so we had to move her to the chicken ICU in our second bathroom. She was lonely all by herself, so we gave her a mirror as a 'friend'. She absolutely LOVED it! She sang to it. She pranced back and forth in front of it. She talked to it. ALL of the poop was in front of it. After about a week she healed enough to be sent back to the coop. Not too long after she returned to the other girls, she didn't come home one night. Knowing that she wasn't the brightest bulb in the pack, we hoped that she would return the next morning. Unfortunately she never did. We were very sad because we had bonded with her while she was in the infirmary, and she had been such great entertainment for us.

Our friend Karen (yes, the chicken was named after her) photoshopped this pic to remove the wound on Karen's head and make her beautiful. Here she is with her mirror. RIP Karen!

We had no coop and I wasn't home and it was snowing my dad felt sorry for her and allowed her in our garage. She ate a perfect hole in his $100 dollar wood remote control airplane. I guess wood tastes good.

I dont have a dumb one but the ee's seem to be smarter than the rir's. One of the rir hens will be nibbling away and realize all the others left her and to see her with her head down running like a 747 approaching take off is a sight. (yes, they can fly)

Gwen is so adorable. LOL@ Sprinkler mishap.
Poor clueless Henny Penny. Lucky to have a patient "mom".
And Im so sorry about Karen. Thats an awesome picture. I love the story. I'd have been heartbroken to lose her.

Oh, I bet dad was NOT happy, emzyy. Good thing letting chicken in the garage was his idea!

and I know that 747 taking off run. My silly chickens do it too.
