HI everyone. My name is Bill and I live in Lugoff, a small town located near the capital city of Columbia, SC. I live on 8+ acres and am looking for something that will keep my wife busy as she is unable to work. She stated that she was game for trying laying hens so that meant I did all of the research and planning. I am currently waiting on 25 brown egg layers (5 each of RIR, BR, Australorp, Black Stars and Speckled Sussex) from Ideal hatchery, due to arrive 2/17/10. She thought I was getting 5-8 hens and nearly fainted when I told her 25 CHICKS! I have all supplies for the brooder(s) and have to build the tractor in the next 6-8 weeks. I have all of the materials but the weather is not cooperating at the moment.
