any advice on lockdown?

Try and keep that exposed membrane moist. Either Vaseline or some antibiotic ointment (without pain killer!) or even a dab of canola oil. The carton isn't necessary, since once he starts trying to get out, it may impede him.

But looking good. I'd just sit tight now and let him do his thing!

Congrats on the adorables!!

Yep they've already been playing in and drinking the shallow water. I can't see as far as the umbilicus. Ok, I'll put some Vaseline around it and take the little one out of the carton :). I'll keep you posted

Ok so I've put Vaseline around the membrane and have kept the humidity up. He's really trying to get free in there but then I think he gets worn out and rests. No progress since the last pic!! But I'm hopeful, he seems strong

He seems to be getting stronger but he is only really using one leg, we've kept him separate from the others for now and I've cleaned his umbilicus with iodine. I'm trying to do some kind of duckling physio with the weaker leg lol. I hope it helps :(

Few hours later and she is doing much better!!! Running around with the occasional roly poly.. Still keeping separate from the others. She is very needy and chirping non stop until she gets attention. Meet little 'hope'

How precious so happy to hear she is making progress since hatched. It takes alot of work to hatch so hopefully she'll keep on making progress If she can see the others and them her it will really help with getting her into the flock once she can go there. Beautiful duckling. I actually have a Hope too. and a Joy and a Faith.

She is in a brooder next to theirs so they can hear each other. She is so much smaller than the others (she's a Cayuga) but I'm sure she will get there. Does her umbilicus look OK to you? This morning it was very pink and large but now it seems to have dried up. Aww cute!!!! I'm so happy with how she's doing :D
