any advice on waterers??

Yes, the cups are self filling with little floating stoppers. The plus is that the chicks don't need to do anythingnto get at the water, and they can dip their beaks and get a nice gulp. It gets hot here in the summer and I was worried that with the horizontal nipples they would only drink what they had to to just get by. Also they couldn't figure out that you had to push the silver pin in to get the water to come out, they kept pecking at the back of the device, just bending the nipple sideways and getting tiny drips.... I tried for at least a whole week. The cups were just as easy to install as the nipples, They install exactly the same way, actually, I even used the same size drill bit and I'm so happy with them.
I'm definitely going to show these to my husband this weekend!!

Do you have the vertical nipples...the ones pointed downward? I understand that those are prone to drip. The horizontal ones with the tiny catch cup are noted to be almost drip-free. A user here on BYC sales them on eBay and maybe here on BYC.

Here's a link to the eBay ones...

They do drip when they drink from them, but not constantly. Now I wish I would have done the horizontal ones, and I might actually order some and use the vertical ones in the run perhaps.

Anyone try the metal ones and have luck?? My mom grabbed us a different type of plastic one that's virtual drip free as long as stabilized. I prop onto coffee can or flower pot upside down. I'll see how it works, it may actually be to big for brooder:(
