I added a darker color to my original picture of Flare's tail tip!

Whoa those are so cool!! I used to carve soap but I wasn't that good.

I can carve and visualize but doing paint on a fish is a skill I dont have. Did some taxidermy when I was a kid. Have them all done but never could make them look right paint wise.

When you have colors that overpower like that, you can use less of them to offset that tendency. This one was 2:1 dark colors to the red and orange pieces to keep it from going crazy (before and after)

On the other hand, you can embrace it. Here's a red and orange combo that leans into it hard.

It's one of those "play with it and find what works best for you" kind of things.

Those are just gorgeous. I don't know if I can ever say it enough.
