I haven't been drawing much stuff to post recently. I mostly draw stuff for stories that I'm working on or would like to work on, and if it involves an original character or concept, then I'm rather hesitant to post it publicly due to the concern of having someone steal it... no one here on the thread, but anyone who just passes by and thinks that it would be worth taking (paranoid, I know).
I should just draw up some random fanart at some point.

Anyway, everyone else is doing great.

I like the fairies. It’s funny. I have a pink fairy character. She likes to tease people.

cheerful Pirr and bowing Pirr are just adorable because the wings look like this cute little cloak that hugs him. I wonder if he gets warm? Maybe that’s why he doesn’t wear a shirt.
I like the one where Sam hugs that huge gem.
The sneaky deer girl though. That hoof! Somehow the hoof in itself is just sneaky.
The hug is just so cute though. Look at them two! Is it possible to watch two people hugging without feeling warm and fuzzy inside?

What kind of species do you design? I have wanted so long to make up my own original species, any tips and tricks? Picture examples?

I usually make them for me younger cousins. I just make them up as I draw them. I've made many species mixs before.

The trick that I use for making original species is to get into a certain headspace. What I mean is like when I see a certain place or setting or specific landscape feature that I particularly love, I get these intense thoughts and feelings surrounding it. Then I try to imagine a creature that is perfectly adapted to live in that environment. For example, I live near a little stream in the woods, it's super cute and I love to watch it. So I developed an aquatic mouse-sized creature with horns to spear insects and tiny fish that would be right at home in a place like that. You just have to think about the kind of adaptations they would have in the environment you have imagined. Then after that you can add bizarre things that make no sense just to make it more unique!

Also I can't decide if he should keep both antlers or have one broken like it is in the big poster (I really did that so he would fit in the picture )

More minor character/background fantasy creature design practices...
I also did a sketch of Mack (you might remember him from the old writing drafts) but I forgot to import the pic of it to this computer...

Some older sketches of Spruce...I had her with a bobcat body initially, but I decided to change it to deer so her porpotions/height worked better with the other characters, lol. Her face shape also kept switching between oval and more squarish.
