nothing like a nice dance with your loved one after your killing spree, amirite?

Do you sand and gesso when you paint over older canvas or just go for it?
No, I’m not sure what that is. I just threw on a couple coats of white paint beforehand. XD
That is lovely, and I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my disabled pullet on my birthday about three years ago, I feel you. :hugs
Thank you! I’m sorry you lost your girl. : (

It primes your canvas before you start painting and prevents paint from soaking deep into the canvas itself. Though the coats of white paint do the job too for starting over XD

^^^^ This. Gesso is a primer sealer for canvas. MOST blank canvases you pick up at the store come pre-gesso'd but when you're painting over an existing piece it's always good idea to re-prime, agree that a couple coats of white does the trick too. I will usually do a grounding coat (gesso with a little bit of a colored paint) even on a pre-prepped canvas too. I find I get better paint flow and less brush strokes that way.

Something I'm working on. The hexes were a real pain. When I pulled the vinyl stencil it pulled up a bunch of the base coat too around all the pattern so I had to go in with a small brush and retouch every edge. That took me almost all day yesterday. We'll see where it goes from here but I want to give it a full day to dry before I work it again.
