Any aspiring writers?

I'm working on a zombie novel myself. (Inspired by dressing a deer actually.

I am also working on a zombie novel! I really don't even know what possesed me to start it, I'm decent at short stories...but a novel? Then I tell myself that I shouldn't put restrictions like that on what I can and can't do. Good luck on yours!

Other than that, I've written a few short horror stories. One was a few years ago and I can't publish it because I've already put it out on the web. Another I wrote recently and I'm thinking about submitting to a magazine after I write a few more drafts.

I also have 2 blogs: one is general interest: vanillasbean.blogspot.com (animals, food, thriftyness)
The other is horror/paranormal: masshorror.blogspot.com

And last but not least, a paid gig writing small articles about fishkeeping

All of this from someone with self proclaimed "no creativity". I just have a lot of time on my hands.

I have enjoyed writing since I was a child, and began taking on a serious project when I was in high school/college that has turned into the in-progress work of a six novel series. I have a very non-linear writing process, so the book that is mostly complete is the book that started it all: volume 2 of the series, which I am extremely close to finishing. If I can get the first three novels done, I'll look into publishing and then continuing to write the series. But, I'm not sufficiently full of delusions to assume I would a) definitely get published and b) be a hit. Either way, I intend to write the series.

I also write a good deal of short fiction and have ideas for three other books not in the series. Oh, and I love educational writing; I write a tremendous ammount of animal care information for various websites, and also make printable leaflets on a range of topics relating to a variety conservation issues. My next project is to start a blog intended to be a no-nonsense education in pet nutrition, because I'm going nuts at how many people are wildly misinformed about properly reading labels and making logical, sound judgements about their pets' nutrition XD

IRE the novel: The genre is urban fantasy/sci-fi/horror, I suppose? It centers around a wereanimal for the main character, but think "wereanimal" back before the genre was largely composed of smut or Twilight (which I have a different "s" word for that doesn't make it past the filters

). You know - back when wereanimals still had teeth. It also includes a host of traditional and original preternatural and mythological beasties including but certainly not limited to vampires, gargoyles, harpies, demons, dragons, etc. It is, however, mostly an allegory and themeatically centers around human nature (good and bad) as well as how humans have historically treated one another and other animals.

Excited to see other aspiring writers on here

I'm always looking for folks to "talk shop" with so PM me if you want to set up an AIM/YIM/Google chat some time to discuss the writing process and get feedback from one another.

I used to love writing, but lately I just don't do it anymore. Every year I get involved with nanowrimo I end up failing miserably. I have a few plotlines written down, characters and everything but I just don't go anywhere as far as actually writing out a novel. Typically it's sci-fi/fantasy that I work in. However I am thinking about writing a book on gardening from beginning to end, month to month what to do. When I started my veg garden I had just moved out of the city and I had never grown anything in my LIFE. I had no idea when or how to plant things and even less of an idea on when to harvest them. I spent a LOT of money on gardening books that would tell me HOW to plant things but then leave it at that, again, no harvesting information. I want to write a BIG book with lots of great color photos on veggie gardening from start to finish.

I love to write. I write poetry now and then and I'd love to someday publish the novel I've got knocking around in my head. But, I also homeschool my 4 kids, so I don't get a lot of quiet, writing time.
