Hey birdwatchers! Do any of you know what type of bird this is?

I asked someone else and they said is was a guira cucoo.
I was dying to find out what it was!

That is exactly what it is, guira cuckoo (Guira guira). It is a Brazilian bird and it is non-parasitic breeder. I have traveled all over the tropics for various reasons and even though I do not consider myself a bird watcher I look for native species everywhere I have been. My favorites were in New Guinea and Sulawasi, there were so many different species I saw it was unbelievable.

lets bring this thread back! bird watching is a fun interesting hobby, you never know what bird you will see next! my regular feeders are...
4 chickadees
2 stellar jays
about 20 dark eyed juncos
and 2 bald eagles (they don't feed at the feeder, but in the river in my backyard)

Cool!
Last summer I visited a marsh and the birds that stood out were 2 Osprey nests, 3 Green Heron, and 1 Double Crested Cormorant. One osprey nest had a couple (around 3) baby chicks a couple of weeks old hiding underneath their mother's large wings for shade. The other nest held young osprey that were almost ready to fledge (actually in a couple of days the did!).

Thanks!
Recently there's been lot of chickadees, tufted titmice, and woodpeckers at my house. Last winter an unusual female Eastern Towhee stopped by my house. She looked very cold and hungry and hopped so close to me without noticing it! A Rose breasted Grosbeak couple also visited. :)

went birding today...post pics soon. I saw, great blue herons, bald eagles, lots of swans, a SCARY amount of geese, and a HUGE (like over 3 feet) golden eagle!
