Any car enthusiasts out there?

im probably the weirdest gearhead you will ever meet.

im a fabricator, a body man, a engine builder, a painter, and a chasis guy.

but most of all, im not partial to any manufacturer, nor do i have a preference.

though i do specialize in honda and nissan/datsun

I grew up in an auto salvage, built most of the cars/trucks I have owned. I have a bunch of projects, 4x4s, hot rods, classics, all for sale now as I am disabled and can no longer work them. I have never owned a new vehicle, never will, just no style to them. I really like the 30s-50s cars/trucks.
The last build I did was a 1949 Chevy pick up, 400 bored 0.060, 3/4 cam, 4 barrel, 400 turbo with shift kit, 411 posi, 17" wheels, painted turtle wax green. First show won several ribbons/awards, It really needs disc brakes up front, but the guy it belonged to said no (it was only another $5K for the parts), so it goes like a scalded ape, but you cant stop it! LOL It does look good!

it ran when it was pulled from teh trike it was in. been sitting, its a california model so it has the air pump that was re purposed as pneumatic power assist somehow on the trike. think it was used as the air pump for the pneumatic shifter it has

Agreed. If I had my way new cars would be how they were in the 70s. Solid, bare bones, reliable. Remember the days when you could actually sit on the hood or trunk of a car?!

Last year I bought a 2014 Ford F150 truck for farm work and hauling things. The dealer was so excited to show me how I could sync my cell phone and mp3 player through the truck, and just as he started to explain it I told him to stop, I didn't care, all that stuff just turns me off, and he looked at me like I was some kind of alien. Half the time I don't even know where my cell phone is, and I'm not even really sure what an mp3 player is! All these new bells and whistles on vehicles are completely unnecessary, more electronics to break down and will need repaired, and don't even get me started on vehicles that park themselves or automatically brake!

I will say though, my 2008 Hummer H3 is the best vehicle I have ever owned. That beast will go through water up to the top of the wheel wells, 2 feet of snow, and pull whole trees up from the woods. Through my despise of newer vehicles and new technology I am so glad I have my tank.
