Hello All,

I am pretty sure I have always heard and read to not wash fertile eggs that are to be incubated (so that the bloom can protect the egg innards during incubation)... but is it a deal breaker? Has anyone incubated an egg washed in just warm water and had it work?

Sanitize your incubator. Clean with bleach. Your egg will hatch most likely, but pay close attention. If you open the incubator for any reason, it is contaminated. The bloom is on the egg for reasons of contamination that would exist in the wild and should not exist in your incubator. Have faith in the chick's God given ability to survive minor contamination, but as soon as the chick hatches, dry it off and get it to a warm brooder.
