Any experience with giving blood to chickens?

We often have blood left over from thawing out meat and i was curious if anyone has fed this to their chickens. I combined this blood with ground up veggies and they love it however i don't want to make them sick so i would appreciate some feedback.

Chickens love blood like human toddlers love Kool-aid. But be aware that E-coli may be present in any of these types of raw animal products, and E-coli is just as dangerous to chickens as humans.
