Other way. Most pure barred males have two barring gene copies, so it wouldn't work like that because he would pass it to both offspring genders.

I do know one of the flicks some of the eggs came from had a RIR rooster and barred rock hens....

If the RIR rooster mated with the barred rock hen, that would create a sex linked chick.

If it is that combo it is for sure a male. Female BSL are all black zero head spot.

You wanted pics of barred mixes? This one hatched out of one of our green EE eggs, and obviously our BR roo was her daddy. She lays pretty olive eggs for us now.

Difficult call but one clue might be the length of the first chicks (black one) toes - so much longer than the 'golden' one ! Looking something close to a 'Barred Plymouth Rock Bantam' - patch on head, body colouring and the leg colouring / toe length.
Second one is just by going on colour etc very 'Buff Orpington' looking.
