Yes, the cockerel does have a blue underside. He's a darn pretty bird, the prettiest one they had at the Rescue when we went that day. There is white on his tail. His back isn't totally black. The shorter feathers in the middle appear to be almost a blue tone as well. They're certainly lighter than his black chest and tail feathers.
So is he blue or black then, or maybe a mix? Is there a consensus? Not that it matters, but I'd like to know....I'm curious like that.
The girls all have feathering on the legs and five toes. Honestly I thought they were boys....I didn't know any better...until they started laying along with the others. That's one way to make sure they aren't cockerels.
I appreciate the input. It's nice knowing I have another Wyandotte. They're neat birds. So are the Faverolles, if a little spastic on the side.
