Any guesses what this might be?

The lady I got her (him?) from said she thought they were from a Lavender Orpington roo over an Easter Egger but this chick looks like such a mutt I can't really tell any features of either, other than some faint brown patterning on the very edges of the wings. The lady also had other breeds than the EEs with the lavender roo, but I didn't get much of a look at her stock because a huge storm was coming and I was trying to get in and get out with my chicks.

This is at four weeks. It is five weeks now and the comb is no bigger or pinker, still yellow, so I'm holding out hope it's just a gangly pullet. I wish I'd spent more time looking at the stock. It was a good-looking Lavender Orp daddy though.

The lavender gene is recessive, so one copy of it will just look black. Your chick is probably a lavender orpington mix. Not sure if the other half is an Easter egger.

I don't know if it's apparent from the photos, but I'm not squeezing it or putting any pressure on its torso at all really holding it like this to keep it in position in any of these photos. He/she is just hanging loose. In the first photo all of its weight is in the palm of my hand. I honestly don't know how to hold it more gently than that. I usually let them sit on my leg or lap on their feet because they're obviously more comfortable that way than dangling, but I was trying to get a photo of the plumage underneath as well as on top.

No idea about sex or breeding, but the young bird doesn't look uncomfortable to me. In fact he looks remarkably relaxed. Whatever it is, he/she is obviously used to human contact. Looks healthy too.
