I have mom's old Better Homes & Gardens cookbook, copyright 1941. Not as pretty as my other cookbooks - quite old and taped together, but I cherish it more than all the others! Some of the recipes have notes doodled on them by mom, and some by me when I was just a kid learning to cook & bake. I'm so glad to have it.Rats, self-taught. Here I was thinking I could blame my lack of skill to not being in the right class
I have an oldie Betty Crocker cookbook too. That thing must be over 40 years old now but there are still some of my favorite recipes in it.

Lovely cookies!I got most of my cookies frosted last night. I saved some for us but haven’t frosted them yet. These I will give away to friends and people I clean for. Have a great day all.

(THIS IS OUR COOP) HEALTHY HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL.
Good job! Nice coop decorations tooIf you do try it, keep in mind the surface gets oily if you use it for multiple batches, and things will spread more. Sometimes a good wiping with a paper towel is enough to combat that, sometimes it needs a washing in between.I was going to for brittle, but chickened out in the last minute and went to wax paper. Now I wish I'd have kept my nerve.![]()
Accurate article. I believe parchment is superior to silicone for cookies. Ruined a few batches of buttery cookies on silpat before I learned about how to control spreading issues. However, silicone is better for cookies that are supposed to be thin, like lace cookies. What a coincidence...we were talking parchment paper & silicone yesterday and this article came up on MSN:

I thought they were pretty much interchangeable but guess it's best to choose one over the other depending on what you're baking.
