That looks delicious!
I am going to have to make it! With crusty bread on the side!

I made chili the other night. Went to the cupboard to get the cans of beans - Bush's chili Beans, Light Kidney Beans, Dark red Kidney Beans and Black Beans - and all I had was one can of Bush's Black Beans in Chili sauce. I try to use as much beans in the chili as possible to make it healthier, but only one can of beans seemed skimpy when I mixed it in. DH says that was the best chili I ever made. :hmm
So much for eating healthier. :th

At least you tried

I love chili :drool DH is the chili pro at our house.

DH would add as many kinds of peppers as he could, two big cans of kidney beans with all the liquid, the diced and crushed tomatoes, three pounds of hamburger (73% lean) with all the grease, lots of chili powder, hot sauce, and a stale bottle of beer. :sick
Then I made it one day (my first time ever). He was mad as a hornet I wouldn’t do it his way! But when he tasted it, he gave me the job for good. :bun

What did you do differently BC?

I like to mix ground beef, pork and bison in mine. And I can my own beans...

Nice mix of meat! I like bison, little to no grease (which is great for soup).

DH does his chili with a beef/pork mix and lots of spices so it's flavorful without being too hot. Sometimes he'll make 2 crockpots full so we can freeze some. We like it plain, with cheese on it, on top of rice, with sour cream & guacamole, on baked potatoes and on nachos. There are so many things you can do with chili.

Now you all are making me want some. Might have to put a bug in DH's ear to get busy!

DH does have a "Grilled Chili" recipe that he makes, that is pretty good. It is a Texas Chili. I can only eat it when he makes it "special" for me - very little heat. The recipe itself is 5-alarm. We won a chili contest at work one year with his chili, the judge was from Texas and told me that he never thought he would find an authentic "Texas Chili" in Wisconsin. :) What makes it grilled is that the round steak, pork steak, ham steak, onions and tomatoes are all grilled before chopping and adding to the pot.

I am a bit jealous. There is a place about an hour away where I can get bison. I’m allergic to venison though, so I would be afraid to try bison.
I would love to grow and can my own kidney beans! However, the issues I have been having with gardening makes me hesitate to try at this time.
:bow I am not worthy of being in your presence!
