Any Home Bakers Here?

My teacher was first generation Sicilian. Married a GI during WWII and came back to the states with him. Rumor had it (totally unconfirmed) that she was Al Capone's Sunday chef. I remember one week, she started the Osso Bucco on Sunday and worked on it all week. Man I was looking forward to Sunday dinner. Sunday dinner was fish sticks. She packed up the Osso Bucco and was picked up in a limo to take it where it went.

She would turn over in her grave if she knew that with canned paste and sauce I can make her marinara sauce in 45 minutes. In her view marinara needs at least a week of prep and cooking. And you can't use anything you didn't pick.

I took my last loaf of sourdough bread out of the freezer today. For some reason, I have become hooked on warm sourdough with jelly (or jam...).
I was going to make several loaves of cinnamon raisin bread today, and freeze them. I realized though that it will be three months before I need them. I guess it’s best to wait.

Though I probably should make some soon just to be sure it comes out right. :D

There's lots worse stuff to be hooked on than warm bread and jelly BC so enjoy!

Cinnamon raisin bread toasted up with a pat of butter...that's a good breakfast all by itself:drool
