@igorsMistress remember when we talked about sweet potato pies the other day? Yesterday I tested out the recipe you had plus the one I'd found, made little mini pies of 2 each.

DH and I tried them out last night and we found we like elements of each (but not necessarily one better than the other). I'm going to combine the 2 recipes into 1.

Either way I made it, we both agreed we like the sweet potato pie better than pumpkin. They had more flavor even using the same spices I use in pumpkin pie. I'll share a picture of the 2 mini's left a bit later.

I love experiments, I'm curious about what you'll do to combine them. Will you post what you're going to try?

What about the sweet factor? How did the sugar difference impact taste?

The recipe with whole milk had a sweeter taste, but it did include more white sugar (1 cup vs. 1/2 cup). The recipe with the evaporated milk had a creamier texture but had a milder, less distinctive taste (even though I used the same spices & amount of spices).

I think when I make the pie for Thanksgiving, I'll split the liquid 1/2 whole milk and 1/2 evaporated milk. And split the difference in the sugar by using 3/4 cup.

I'll measure things out when I go to make it and will share here.

(Appearance wise, both pies look the same.)

You're awesome :hugs thank you for sharing this with us! I judge things in this way too. Can't wait to see your final recipe.
