@penny1960 Even with baiting, the success rate for bear hunting is less than 25%.

My B-I-L baited bear for 2 years at his hunting spot before he got a kill tag, and he still got skunked. In WI, you buy a bear licence and that lets you bait bear and participate in group hunts, but not kill a bear - someone in the group has the kill tag. It takes 4 years of buying a licence to earn the right to buy a kill tag so that you can actually kill a bear. (at least that is how it used to be. We have bear coming out of our ears and the DNR is still saying that the population is low...)

Making cheese ravioli .. I had a clean bear shot in Juneau years ago .. going hiking got between momma bear and cub .. kill or be killed .. I am still here ..
I did a mountain goat hunt never got a clean shot so did not .. did duck hunt with a standard poodle
