Any Home Bakers Here?

@bruceha2000
I have a great friend in Enfield, NH. Over the years we made 5 trips out to Iowa to go hunting. I might have drove by your place lol. We used to take route 4 and then south on I/87 and then out west on I80/90. Great memories.
Thank you for taking the time to converse
Nope, much too far south to have gone by us. But you did pass RIGHT by a summer place that has been in my wife's extended family since the late 1800's just before you got to the Pico ski area on Rt 4 ;) UNLESS you happened through on the Sunday before Labor Day. Other than this Covid year and last year when we were in PEI after dropping DD1 at school, we have been at the family get together there every year.

I have to confess I used boughten frozen crust.
I suspect a store crust would be at least as good as one I made, not my forté.

My next adventure is to have my wife teach me to make pie crust. She is very good at it, since leaving work last December I’ve gladly become the baker. I really enjoy the bread, tea biscuit, cakes and cinnamon rolls I’ve been baking. It has paid off having such a great teacher.
lol more than once she has told me she doesn’t like me in HER KITCHEN! I’m a little less tidy But I clean up after myself, just not fast enough for her. Must be a man woman thing she cleans as she goes I wait till I’m done then clean up.
Sounds fine to me. AND you will need to post her pie crust recipe. I really do not make too many pies and have not found a "healthy" one ...too much shortening for me. Aria

I clean as I go because of limited space--pie crust can be tricky!
I clean as I go also, this kitchen e nice because you can have conversations with others while cooking - but lack of counters is a big issue 😞

I agree that pie crust can be difficult, but if you find a good recipe then its so much easier.

After I'd written you a message I went in to look again, it was bubbling away
.it's now back in the fridge, I will take two table spoons later and add to smaller jar as recommended. ;) thanks so much ;)
It would have been best to start another jar....while the starter was warm.
Cold retards the starter. Warm keeps it going. Good to remember. Aria
