Not to take away from the awesome job your wife obviously did. It was probably that you stuck around, I am sure at that young there were times it was hard, that was the deciding factor in his success now. It sounds like you have a great kid.
Yeah...I would hope that if I hadn't made it through the whole bone marrow transplant thing he would have still turned out right....hard to say he was on ninth grade when that happened. Good thing it worked out...

My cousins lost their father at about that age, I think the boy was 10 or 11, daughter 8ish. But point is they do pretty good for themselves. They still have some demons, I think it is unavoidable when you loose a parent, especially while young. But they do alright. He is a foreman for a construction company, she happily married stay at home mom.
I think the real damage happens when the parents choose to leave, not made to leave.

Yeah i agree with that i have cousins who have all have different fathers and they arent exactly normal they are doing better because one man choose to adopt them all (they were all older by then) but they still habe issues. And organic you ever get the feeling something odds going on when you walk back in to a room and you two year old is picking up her toys with out being asked...

Oh I would be terrified. Running room to room looking for the unknown disaster.

Lol yeah i was freaked i walked back out and back in thinking i was imagining things. Lol she picked them up to move them to the kitchen she wasnt happy when i told her to take them back to the living room.

Lmao yep lol little brat then ran to the bedroom (mine and daddies) and jumped in bed with daddy and complained lol.

Lol yeah I get "told on" all the time too. DH often puts Thing 1 to bed and when he does Thing 1 always gives him a complete rundown of all the yelling I did, and even when she gets spanked :lau He comes down then and asks me, "So, I hear you had a bad day...." :)
