For Making home made bread is it better to use Bread hooks or hands for kneeding?

I have only ever done Bread in a machine

Buuut I dropped it last year and it did not survive.

I think that's more of a personal preference. A lot of times I'll start my bread using the hook on the Kitchen Aid then switch to my hands to get a better feel for the dough.

I have never had a bread machine or the mixer with hooks i use my hands lol its more fun for me. However i want a both the bread machine and the mixer since it make it easier.

Portuguese Sweet bread in the machine is good and pan toasted ... even better!
