Any Home Bakers Here?

@LittleLakePhil Congrats on having a new grand baby soon and nice to see such a proud dad! It sounds like your son has done pretty amazing!

My two cents for Christmas birthdays. My birthday is three days after Christmas and I hate it. No one was ever able to come (we didn't do big birthday parties, but not even grandparents). The weather always kept the roads too icy or family was out of town, I was given Christmas stuff or, my favorite [insert sarcasm] was the joint Christmas and birthday gift! Which usually ended up being the same thing everyone else got for Christmas, but for me it counted for both for some reason. Everyone is broke by the end of December, not that the cost of the gift matters, but something is nice! And to see your brother get stuff and being obviously thought about in his birthday, but you get nothing is really hard for a kid. My suggestion to people with kids born in December, especially Christmas week, is to celebrate on their half birthdays once they get older and then just have a cake to mark their actual birthday. Friends can come on their half birthday, the weather will be better and the day can be about them. I had a big talk with my husband, my birthday is already not a happy time of year for me, when we got together. I told him I didn't care if all he got me for my birthday was a card from dollar tree, but he would get me something and not just say "oh, here's your joint Christmas/birthday gift". So he knows, I did explain to him latter on that if he ever wanted to get me a gift that's more spendy, he should wait to give it to me for my birthday and buy it for me at the after Christmas sale.... My thriftiness can't stand someone paying full price

Oh man, sorry for my little rant. I will say, anyone I have met with December birthdays have felt the same. We talk about the worst birthdays, it's a club, haha. I'm sure some people may like it. Probably the ones who's parents thought ahead to do half birthdays

, but I'm sure a good family situation helps.

Yes you really have to make an effort as a parent to keep them seperate. My eldest was due Christmas Eve but finally arrived on the 30th. I banned joint birthday/Christmas presents, including from grandparents etc, from day one after hearing similar stories.

The birthday party has always been the hardest one. In kindergarten she invited half the class, as you do, and two people showed up. After that we always had her party in the couple of weeks before school broke up. It's hard because it's a month early and you really aren't thinking birthday at that point but Christmas so one other year I forgot. Again one person came. Never forgot again.

I think as long as you make a big effort to keep them special and seperate it works out fine. She has never complained she misses out, only that she has to wait longer than everybody else for hers as its at the end of the year. Love that logic lol

Not sure what extruder is? I have the three piece roller, and cutter set.

There are plates that convert the grinder attachment to a pasta maker. The dough is extruded out of the plate and then you cut off the length that you want.

I have used a hand roller and cutter set and liked it much better.

Oh I see. I like this set, it is easy to use. But it does require more work and time then buying it at the store :). Took me about an hour to make the noodles. It would have been quicker, but the recipe came out to dry (I think the eggs I had were not as big as recipe wanted). That and thing 1 and 2 were desperate to help.

flour is sensitive to humidity. Sometimes a cup will have more moisture in it so it will need less liquid. Other times it will be too dry and need more liquid.

Europeans weigh flour instead of using cups because of this.

I want to get the pasta attachment and the flour grinder attachment.

It is nice to use. I should find the flour attachment...we grind our own wheat flour and I have a huge grinder, but it needs a new bucket...Maybe I should look into the kitchen aid one. It called for 4 large eggs, and I just used my eggs. But it is dry here too. It was nothing water did not fix.
