Any Home Bakers Here?

It is fact!
Checked on Broodie I was afraid if there was Chirpin it would attract the opossum or cats or rats or CrazyLadies from the house.
No worries I stayed away from touching talking or trying to peek! But I heard a chipchirp and saw feathers on mama move
I will get a count in the morning if she gets up on her own. and pics too!

had to post so i could be subscribed. i am not much of a baker but i love to cook.
Welcome, would love to see some of your recipes - and meal suggestions ( to give to DH - he's my cook

)

If you can cook, you can bake - and probably a lot better than me - still getting great tips from the folks on this thread.

Did not make as many as I thought I could but the dough was drying out. The reindeer Way faster to put together!
I followed the directions for the ones in Sunflour's post #4233 I added a small flattened ball for a snout and used Crasins for the nose. I also mixed orange and purple gel food coloring to make a brown egg wash. They will look good on the table tomorrow

Next year I will bake them ahead of time and put up a *do not disturb* sign on the front door

Here is the ratio,   Medium Simple Syrup - A ratio of 2 parts water to 1 part sugar - used to make sweeten beverages and iced tea. Thick or Rich Simple Syrup (basic simple syrup) - A ratio of 1:1 water to sugar - This is used as the basis for cold fruit drinks and cocktails.
my day will be better....just one of those things.....Yeah the cocktail mixer is the syrup I was familiar with... ;)

All recipes call for large eggs, I use an egg scale and add extras to get the expected weight - since I get mostly medium and small eggs.

And here's link to King Arthurs Weight charts:  http://www.kingarthurflour.com/learn/ingredient-weight-chart.html

For a new recipe - I look up everything that I could weigh and write it in the recipe - so I don't have to look it up every time.

IMO a real help to cut time for prep and you don't have to do the math every time you make it - especially helpful for honey, molasses, syrups, mayo, mustard - and helps cut down on all those measuring cups to wash ;)

That would have come in handy yesterday duh! My battery is going flat in my scale so instead of just turning off I've discovered it's working but will increase the weight it shows 5g every couple of seconds. Was trying to make buns so had to weight the flour super fast to try and get a weight before it changed. Couldn't do it fast enough of course so then I had to guesstimate how much it had added. The buns worked out but I think that was pure luck lol
