Any Home Bakers Here?

I had gingerbread house dreams all night.
My guilt for not completing one yet is ruining me.
Good thing I have another five days to procrastinate.

My new years resolution is to get rid of stuff.
I have too much stuff.
Old, worn out, I don't like it, I don't want it- but feel obligated to keep it stuff.

And you know how I got most of it?
Because it was too good for a relative to throw out so they gave it to me and said, "Now, don't throw this out."

Keeping stuff has never been a problem for me, it is genetic, got it from my mother. I have more stuff then I need, but no time to get rid of it, so it gets a reprieve, for a while :/
What you do is get yourself 1, maybe 2, totes. You may fill that with as much stuff as you want to keep. Things you just feel to guilty to get rid of. Whatever cannot fit into those totes must go. It forces you to think which one of these two things do I really need to keep. It helps me to give the rest of the perfectly good stuff to the thrift charity places. I figure they make a little money, and some poor college student looking for cool retro things will be happy.

I know! This morning we had ham, egg & cheese on English Muffins for breakfast. He's in the kitchen right now making up a big pot of ham & bean soup. Which means we'll not only have sliced ham left, we'll have ham & bean soup left. DH has also informed me we'll be having ham & black eyed peas with greens for New Year's Eve.

Oy! Anyone want some ham?

You can freeze some of the beans and cube up some of the ham to save for recipes like stir fry. Slice some into sandwich slices and pack in portion sized then freeze them too.

Ham freezes very well.

Oh I was going to tell you all that for the egg wash on the dinner rolls I used whole Silkie eggs that way I didnt have to make something to go with the egg whites and nothing was wasted. Worked great!

We put 3 large packages of sliced ham in the freezer yesterday. There are 2 packages plus a bag with a big bone in the refrigerator. Good thing we like ham.

Trying a new roll recipe, Chewy Italian Rolls. This will be my first time making one that starts with a biga...I'll find out tomorrow how they turn out.

Anyone else trying something new?
