Tell me, O Wise Gardeners, what does my New Guinea Impatiens want to cause it to bloom? It bloomed nicely all summer while hanging outside my north window but Fall's chill has caused me to bring it indoors and now it is pouting and scowling at me. All my windows are those expensive ones that block Nature's natural spectrum. 😔 I only give my plants rain water.

I only ever had them as annuals. Didn’t know you could winter them over!

I'm trying to overwinter one of DH's habanero plants. If it works, maybe we'll have peppers when we have tomatoes! Usually they are crazy with peppers in... September.

As far baking goes, I'm going to make me a loaf of GF bread. And read up on making GF sourdough. And regular sourdough.

Think I'm baking cookies today. To thank my mechanic for finally finding the trouble with my car. Valve cover has a tiny hairline crack and needs replaced. I'm probably not 'splainin' this right, but it was losing compression and would not stay in cruise control. Should be fixed today, hooray. Oatmeal banana pecan chocolate chip, how does that sound?

For the past year I've been learning how to bake yeast breads here at home. It's been challenging and rewarding (when it all comes together right, lol).

Today for the 1st time I made up a Boule recipe and ran into a snag. Is there anyone here that's familiar with yeast breads? Since I'm here several times a day reading about chickens, it would be great to chat with others that also bake.

My zygocati moved with me throughout the years. It was a Christmas cactus that I got the start from, and bloomed at Christmas time for 2 years. Then I moved it from my office - where I got it from- to my house and it bloomed at Christmas and Easter that year. Then it was an Easter cactus for 5 years until I moved to Wyoming and it became an Easter through summer cacti - blooming from last March to September -with a few random blossoms at Christmas time. Since moving back to Wisconsin, it is a green plant. It hasn't bloomed for 6 years ... at least it is still alive.

That’s too bad! Is it in a warm room that gets light in the evenings? Either way it’s lucky you support it in its retirement.
