Yes! be very careful adding the waterMy oven has a well in the bottom, I pour a cup of water directly in the bottom of the stove. But WEAR A GLOVE! The water will turn to steam immediately!
Is that the plant that has to go into a closet for a while to get it to bloom? My zygocati moved with me throughout the years. It was a Christmas cactus that I got the start from, and bloomed at Christmas time for 2 years. Then I moved it from my office - where I got it from- to my house and it bloomed at Christmas and Easter that year. Then it was an Easter cactus for 5 years until I moved to Wyoming and it became an Easter through summer cacti - blooming from last March to September -with a few random blossoms at Christmas time. Since moving back to Wisconsin, it is a green plant. It hasn't bloomed for 6 years ... at least it is still alive.
I feed it to the chickens and make sourdough brownies. For some reason my chickens love goop, so they just devour sourdough starter if I give them some.Well, I got to reading about sourdough, both regular and GF, and never made the plain ol' GF bread. But I do have a sourdough question....
What do you all do with the starter that you discard? Throw it in the compost? Make something with it? Feed it to the chickens? Can you save it up and make crackers or cookies or waffles or pancakes?
I have a hard time throwing it away, so I currently have about five jars of starter percolating merrily in my fridge. I'm thinking of putting an ad in my local paper and seeing if I can sell it .... I know, I'm a dope.Well, I got to reading about sourdough, both regular and GF, and never made the plain ol' GF bread. But I do have a sourdough question....

I use my Genesis SDS once a week. Take out what you need....feed it ...let it rise and place it back inYou don't need to make bread every 2 days and why do you have any to throw away? Feed one, use the others until you are down to just one. Of course you'll have to feed the one you are using prior to using it.
