Any Home Bakers Here?

So... I made a double batch of the no-knead Bakery Style Bread, with these modifications: I used 2 c ww flour and 4 c AP; added about 1/2 tsp EVOO. Baking it in a French loaf pan (see pic below) and it is covered with aluminum foil. Am baking potatoes at the same time, so oven is at 400°F. We'll see how it comes out, can't wait!

It's Pearl Harbor Day and I don't know how to acknowledge it. I can't say "Happy" Pearl Harbor Day ... but I want to say something to honor those who lost their lives, and also the survivors. And the families of both. So many lives impacted. Those who enlisted afterward. The brave young men who went to war. The courageous young women who supported the war effort by going to work to fill the labor gaps, or served the military as nurses and in other capacities. That day changed America down to her roots.

I actually don’t know what to say myself. It’s the 80th anniversary.

There actually is a song written in 1941 about this. I have the lyrics.

“History, in every century, recalls an act that lives forevermore. We’ll recall, as into line we fall, the act that happened on Hawaii’s shore.

Let’s remember Pearl Harbor, as we go to meet the foe. Let’s remember Pearl Harbor, as we did the Alamo. We will always remember, how they died for liberty. Let’s remember Pearl Harbor and go on to victory.”

Let’s do what this song says. Let’s remember Pearl Harbor.

Thanks Jared!

Well, I have baked my first loaf of sourdough!

It's a small loaf, which is fine, because it's just for me. I picked the easier of two GF recipes I found. I'm going to make the other one next time.

The recipes were very different in ingredients and method. I might also wait until I get some sorghum flour, to see if that makes a difference.

I won't know what it looks like inside until I slice it tomorrow.

A reason to get up in the morning! :)
